I am entering the Mrs. B.C. Pageant in the hopes of inspiring others to put themselves out there and live life to its fullest. In addition to wanting to inspire others I welcome the opportunity to spread awareness and funding for mental health and addiction treatment and prevention. I also am a huge advocate for developing further education and support for family and loved ones of those battling addiction.
What's unique about me is the fact that I don't consider setbacks in life as such but rather learning curves and I feel more empowered and determined everyday to make a difference and inspire others of all ages and backgrounds that they can too.
A favourite motto of mine is; ‘you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink’ or ‘ you can lead a man/woman to knowledge but you can't make them think.’ In other words the tools are there and we as individuals need to learn to help ourselves. While it is important to help others we need to accept the fact that while we can empower them they are the ones in the driver’s seat and their success or failure is essentially up to them. |
