Round One:Your Best Shot
London Drugs/Black Press invites amateur photographers to submit photographs for round one of the contest. Photographs from any genre will be accepted. Photographs are recommended to be less than 5MB, must be the property of the contestant and must have been taken within the last 12 months.
Images may include; sport, family, events, landscape, action, portrait or any kind of genre. Contestants may enter a maximum of five photographs.
Deadline for final entries is midnight, July 7th, 2015. Results will be released to finalists prior to July 13th 2015. Names of finalists will be published on this site Friday 17th July 2015. This contest is not open to professional or licensed photographers. VIP airshow passes will be available for all finalists.
Contestants must be available to attend at least one full day of the Abbotsford International Airshow. August 7th-9th, 2015.

Round Two: The Next Generation -
Amateur Photographer of the Year
Round two contestants will be invited to join a team of photographers at this year's Abbotsford International Airshow. This year the show will again include a dramatic twilight show along with two jet teams and the US F22.
Finalists will be notified by email and phone if selected for round two. As a finalist you will be representing your local community newspaper and your city.
A Black Press representative will confirm the day(s) you will be attending the show, in order that we can arrange for appropriate refreshments etc.
All selected contestants/photographers will receive:
- All access pass to the Airshow for 3 days.
- VIP Access to the London Drugs/Black Press Photo Pit. (Preferred location for Airshow photography)
- Light refreshments will be served throughout the day
- Private tours on the 'hotside' of the show
- One carload pass for their entire family
Finalist photographers will be challenged with shooting:
- The Best in-air photograph (Prize courtesy of London Drugs)
- The Best ground/static scene photograph (Prize courtesy of London Drugs)
- The Best crowd scene photograph (Prize courtesy of London Drugs)
Finalists are required to submit photographs for all three categories at the Airshow. A maximum of ten photos per category are allowed. There will be one additional challenge for all photographers during the Airshow. To be announced at later date.
Black Press will have staff at the event uploading images to a central site. We will be encouraging all photographers to use social media feeds, including facebook and twitter, where possible to promote the event.
Following the Airshow August, voting for the People's Choice Photo Award will commence and a judging panel will review all the photographs submitted during the show.
Winners will be presented with their prizes. Date to be confirmed.
Once completed:
- Top three finalists selected will win the prizes.
- One finalist will receive 'People's Choice Award' - Bonus prize to be announced.
- One voter will win bonus prize to be announced.
Are you a Youtube or Vimeo enthusiast?
If you have shot video in the last 12 months, you could be eligible to participate in the Amateur Videographer of the Year contest. Simply send us a link to a video taken in the last 12 months. Video to be no longer than 3 minutes in length. Any genre of video may be entered. Maximum of five video links per entry.
A select number of videographers will be invited to join us at the Abbotsford International Airshow to compete for great prizes and the overall title. All photographers attending the show will automatically be entitled to enter the Videographer of the Year contest. Deadline July 10th 2015. Send entries to contests@abbynews.com. Please mark subject line Videographer of the Year Contest.
Official Rules:
Contest starts April 18th, 2015. Closing date July 7th @ midnight. Finalists will be announced prior to July 13th, 2015.

Photographs may be used throughout Black Press multimedia platforms. Photographs will not be resold or passed to a third party, however, they are in the public domain and Black Press/London Drugs/Abbotsford International Airshow cannot be responsible for public usage.
All Photographs will be accepted for the 'Your Best Shot' portion of the contest, including photoshop touch-ups and other effects. Finalists will be provided with parameters of photo entries during the Airshow. A select number of Videographers will be invited to the finale to compete for additional prizes. All finalists attending the Airshow will be eligible to enter the videography portion of the contest.

This contest is void where prohibited by law.
If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If Black Press cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.
Only one registered account per user. If multiple accounts are detected for a single user, they will be disabled.
Black Press reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
Black Press reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.
Employees of Black Press, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
