Abbotsford Idol Qualification Dates & Finale with Contest Rules.
All contestants must fill out general entry form on this site for a chance of a pre-registration spot and will be notified by phone to schedule their appearance date at Finnegan's - 33780 King Road in Abbotsford.
There will be three qualification nights on the following Tuesdays - June 2nd, 9th & 16th with the finale happening on the 23rd all at Finnegan's Grill.
All 3 winners from each night will move on to the finale June 23 at Finnegan’s. Plus the Judges will be bringing back 1 additional contestant to make 10 for our Finale.
Contestants must bring their tracks on a CD, IPOD or USB stick. Contestants are permitted to use their own acoustic instrument; however not require. Contestants can chose any song they want to perform including their own originals. Only solo acts permitted. Our panel of 3 independent judges will base their scoring from the following 3 categories evenly (each category based out of a top score of
10. All decisions by the judges will be final.
a) Vocals
b) Rhythm
c) Customer participation and applause
Contestants should bring as many supporters as possible.
Grand prize is the opportunity to perform a song and be the opening act for the Canada Day Kickoff Concert on June 30th with Emerson Drive at the Abbotsford Centre! For tickets to June 30 concert visit ticketmaster.ca
Pre - Registration
Pre-registration @ abbynews.com/contests or try your luck for two wild card spots on a qualification night by arriving at Finnegan's before 6pm. Space is limited to 10 contestants per night, so pre-register (only available online) to secure 1 of 8 spots or come between 5:30pm to 6pm to have a chance of the 2 remaining Wild Card spots. Contest will begin at 6:30pm. No age requirement for Contestants; however contestants who are 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The top 3 from each Qualification Date will qualify for the final.
Subsequent prizing will be awarded on each of the 3 qualifying nights and will be determined at that time.
Final: Tuesday June 23, 2015 at Finnegan's.

General Rules:
Open to all ages, however 18 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
If a winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If Abbotsford News cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
Abbotsford News reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
Abbotsford News reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.
Employees of Abbotsford News, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
Entrants further grant to Abbotsford News the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
