She will be both Ambassador and role model during her reign. A foundation of good manners is integral to the development of good social and leadership skills, not only for today but for the future. • How to create a great first impression,
  • Introductions,

Self Defence Training – conducted by Mitra Castano, of Triunity Martial Arts

(www.triunitymartialarts.com) Mitra has worked with the Miss BC Contestants for a number of years. It is a sad fact that women today need to be more aware of their environments and more prepared for the possibility of being the subject of violence. Because of this, Miss BC has made it a point to have a self-defence workshop for our contestants to receive basic overall skills on defence techniques for women.

Choreography training

The delegates will be trained to present a grand opening performance for the final showcase.

Self-esteem and Assertiveness workshop – conducted by Wilma Boyd

"Self-esteem is a way of thinking, feeling and acting, which implies that you accept, respect, trust and believe in yourself". Wilma's workshop will teach you how to become a confident young woman.

program

During the summer of 2016 contestants from across B.C. will compete for the Miss and Mrs. BC titles. These women represent all that is beautiful in our province; there is no height or weight requirement. Throughout the weekend the women will be trained in various genres to face the panel of judges, receive crucial life-skills training pertinent to young women, attend rehearsals for the grand finale showcase, and participate in a large-scale group fundraiser for our charity "Cops for Cancer".

On the final night, an expected full house audience will witness the competition and the crowning of the winners.

inner beauty

International Beauty Pageants raise millions of dollars every year for children's charities. The Miss B.C. Program and Courage Productions Inc. are committed to this principle and, as a continuance of this mandate, to raise funds and awareness for organisations that benefit children.

The Miss B.C. Program's Charity of Choice is Cops for Cancer, a partnership between the Canadian Cancer Society and police officers, RCMP and emergency services personnel from across British Columbia. Each fall, Canadian law enforcement personnel cycle a pre-designated route in their region, raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research and programs that support kids with cancer, such as Camp Goodtimes.

Cops for Cancer currently holds 4 distinct tours in British Columbia, but their hope is that the event will eventually be held in every province and territory across Canada. All funds raised by Cops for Cancer benefit pediatric cancer research and support programs nation wide.

To date, the contestants for Miss BC have raised over $225,000 for Cops for Cancer. Please support your favourite contestant and ask them for their personal online donation link.
